Sealing the Deal – Using Bone Glue to Treat Pain from Wisdom-Tooth Extractions
For many teens, having one or more wisdom teeth removed is a health milestone after the first third molar teeth come in at the very back of the mouth and there isn’t enough room for them. But with this milestone also often comes another one – their first exposure to opioids. “Of about 10 million wisdom-tooth extractions done in a year, about a third come with a prescription for an opioid,” says George Kay, D.M.D., Chief Scientific Officer at the medical device company RevBio in Lowell, Massachusetts.
