Lowell company developing ‘bone glue’ to help healing

Officials at LaunchPad Medical, LLC, say they're on the right track to breaking ground with this technology. They recently launched their product, Tetranite adhesive, onto the International Space Station for experiments in microgravity environment, and soon will publish the results from those trials. The company is also testing in animals based on strict FDA regulations, and officials hope to get FDA approval in the next year to start testing in humans. Read more >>

‘Bone Glue’ Experiments on the ISS Test Possible Treatment for Osteoporosis

NASA to Highlight Science on Next Resupply Mission to Space Station

NASA will host a media teleconference at 1 p.m. EST Wednesday, Nov. 29, to discuss a number of science investigations and instruments launching to the International Space Station on the next SpaceX commercial resupply mission. Brian Hess, chief executive officer, and Grayson Allen, chief financial officer, both of LaunchPad Medical, will discuss an investigation using synthetic bone material to accelerate bone repair. Startups win another $500,000 from Boeing and CASIS for zero-gravity tech

Eleven startups in all have benefited from the “Technology in Space” prizes awarded since 2014 at MassChallenge Boston, with backing from CASIS and Boeing. The two startups selected for awards in 2015, Biorasis and LaunchPad Medical, should see their experiments fly to the space station next month aboard SpaceX’s Dragon cargo capsule. Read more >>
